Seoul Lays Claim to Humongous Outdoor LED Signage Display – Display Daily
Samsung has just installed a massive outdoor LED display at the Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul’s Myeongdong district. Unveiled during the “2024 Lights Up SEOUL, KOREA” event, this impressive screen wraps around the entire outer wall of the building, measuring about 71.8 meters wide and 17.9 meters high—that’s roughly the size of three basketball courts!
Designed to be both durable and visually stunning, the display is built to withstand harsh weather conditions and offers exceptional brightness and color accuracy. It supports HDR10+ technology and can reach a maximum brightness of 8,000 nits, which should be good enough to view in direct sunlight.
Samsung is no stranger to large-scale digital signage. They’ve previously installed massive displays at notable venues like Coex SM Town in Seoul, Citi Field in New York, and Minute Maid Park in Houston. This new installation in Myeongdong will not only showcase advertisements and dynamic video content but will also transform into a spectacular Christmas display each year.
Shinsegae Department Store aims to make this media façade an iconic landmark in Seoul, blending traditional heritage with cutting-edge digital technology. They hope it will become a must-visit attraction and a central hub for K-culture, offering unique experiences to both locals and tourists alike.
